Review of Crayons Color My World
I read this to my youngest (age 4) and she was fascinated. It is a lovely story to introduce diversity in a child-friendly way. It prompted an interesting discussion and she loved looking at the pictures of children of other nationalities. This is the kind of book I would love to share with my pre-school class, both for fun and as an educational resource.
Review of Mike and the Deaf Student
I liked the way this short and simple book delivered its message in a manner easily understandable to small children. The start of the story introduces the two characters as ordinary little boys that children can relate to. The book then tackles the subjects of bullying and deafness in a fun and innovative way. I also liked the serious bit at the end that teaches children how to communicate in sign language.
